I took four R&R’s to Thailand between 1969 and 1972. Had a great time each time. :)

This is total bs. The massage parlors were there to “accomdate” Thai men long before the Vietnam war. There are 20x as many places today that cater to the local populace than cater to foreigners. However, the Thai places are less in-your-face than the ones for foreigners. Oh well, cant stop the oldest profession…

Just made a trip to Bangkok in May 08 to relive my times I had in 1967. Same-Same. Only the girls don’t wear numbers anymore but they still offer you what you want. Me love you long time.

No, my friend, I beg to differ. I’m not placing judgment on prostitution as a profession or the patrons. But it is what it is, the fact is these girls must cater to wealthy foreigners to survive. Prostitution has been around everywhere since the beginning of time. Sadly, millions of men from wealthier countries will fly halfway round the world taking along a few bucks to get laid, often w/an underaged girl. I’ve seen it when I lived in SE Asia and know the real problem is w/ our sick men.

It has little to do with survival and more to do with the Thais unofficial class system that views girls from the northeast as lower class. The girls are trying to earn status and face for themselves and their family by earning lots of money. A good looking girl working at a gogo bar in Bangkok will make more than an engineer or optometrist or 8 times that of a teacher. Somehow the teacher stills survives even tough they make 8 times less than a bargirl.

I love the do gooder liberal press that makes a special about American GI’s in Thailand and yet don’t give a crap about teen hookers in their own streets. Great agenda driven journo’s. Nice job! NOT!

Massage parlors in Thailand? I can go to any big city in my own country and find many massage parlors to pick from. No need to travel accross the globe.
